On Sunday a bunch of us went to Cape Neddick beach for a day of flat water Suping. Everyone got into the act. Moms went out for a bit ,then the Dads with the kids

This Saturday Night July 24th – “Castles in the Sky” – Premiere at Grain Surfboards

We’re happy to announce the premiere of Taylor Steele’s new film Castles in the Sky.

The premiere will be at the Grain Surfboards factory, Saturday July 24th starting at 8:30pm. Come early for tours of the shop, and to check out some boards that were just built by students in our July class. Weather permitting we’ll be showing the film outside on the barn wall (inside if its raining) so bring your beach chairs.
Free popcorn, BYO beverage. $5 per person, kids under 7 are free.

Castles In the Sky is a visual whirlwind that follows surfers to the farthest reaches of the known surf world and beyond. Castles in the Sky is a completely new approach to surf filmmaking. Over the years Liquid Dreams has had 3 VANS. The last Van engine died 5 years ago so its been sometime without a shop Van. We wanted a 12 passenger Van so we could bring our Surf Students to and from the beach and check out some NEW flatwater spots for our SUP Tours.. Its like a mobile Surf Shop and if you see it around be sure to throw a shaka ….

RIDE THE 5 SURF CAMP

Liquid Dreams is offering a brand new surf camp this summer for kids ages 8 to 19. This camp is designed to teach all 5 wave and watercraft activities LDS has to offer over 5 days: surfing, boogie boarding, skimboarding, stand up paddling, and body surfing.

Each day of the Ride the 5 camp will begin at 10 am at our Long Sands location, where students will be equipped with wetsuits and surfboards for a one hour morning surf lesson. After the lesson the students will surf on their own for a half hour before breaking for lunch (student brought lunch). Each afternoon session students will learn another of the 5 water activities in the Ride the 5 package (day one surf all day, day two surf and skim, day three surf and SUP, etc.). Ride the 5 will break for the day at 3, with student pickup at 3:30.

The camp will have 5 or less students per instructor. Cost will be $395 per student, which includes all necessary equipment, instruction from some of the best watermen in New England, a Ride the 5 t-shirt and rashguard, and discounts on surf equipment packages. Camps will be offered weekly from June 28 through August 27, with a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 10 students Space is limited so call and sign up today!!! History was made this past Saturday May 22nd when the York beach Residents voted Yes on #23. By voting yes on #23 Longsands is a better beach for surfers and swimmers alike. Growing up in York since the 70s and owning Liquid Dreams for 14 years the most asked question has been “why is the surf zone so small? “. Other surf zone proposal’s have come and gone and there was always an issue or a hick up. This New Surf Zone is Modeled after many beaches up and down the east coast and it WORKS..The Anastas Family, Liquid Dreams Surf Shop and the Surf Community would like to Thank all of the people that voted yes on #23 and yes for York Beach. I would also like to thank the Local Surfers, Mike Sullivan and the other town officials for all their help and hard work over the years on making Long sands a more user friendly beach for all. I will be sending out info on the up coming fundraiser that we will be having to raise money for the Surf Zone Ropes and Bouys..

Residents/surfers of York Maine, This Saturday May 22nd is a BIG day for the Surf Community and Beach goers of York beach. After years of working with town officials and other residents/surfers of York Beach a New Ordinance has been drafted that makes a lot of sense for both Beach goers and Surfers. By voting YES on #23 you are opening the beach to mixed uses with a large swimming area only and two areas for mixed use(surfing and swimming). Which is the current way 99.9% of all beaches in the US are run.. As York Beach local and surf advocate John Clancy says “Its the biggest no brainer in the history of York beach” to pass this new Ordinance. The Anastas Family and Liquid Dreams surf shop urges you to vote YES on #23 and YES for York Beach.. This Ordinance reads as follows

This amendment creates a safe swim
zone on Long Sands Beach that extends from the staircase
at Beacon Street northeasterly to the staircase at the Long
Sands General Store and two mixed use zones on either
side of the safe swim zone extending from the staircase at

the Long Sands General Store to the northerly end of the
beach and from the staircase at Beacon Street to the Sun-N-
Surf Restaurant. The mixed use zone extends the area
allowed for surfing but mandates that surfers must wear a
surf leash to stay in control of their board and surfers must
remain at least 35ft away from any swimmers. This
amendment is generally consistent with the Comprehensive
Plan. It is expected to have no fiscal impact on Town
Administration.
Board of Selectmen recommends approval (5-0)

So on Sat May 22nd please vote Yes on #23 and help make Long Sands a better and more user friendly beach..
